Learning and Wellbeing in Seamless AI World
Lin Lin Lipsmeyer
This panel talk uses two examples to shed lights on how AI can be integrated to transform our learning, harmony, and well-being. One example was from a TedTalk by Todd Rose, who argued why designing for the average does not work for anyone or any situation. The design for the average does not work for the pilots flying fighter jets; it also does not work for schools or classrooms. We need to redesign our classrooms to address individual needs and to create personalized learning opportunities. AI can play an important role in addressing personalized learning. Another example came from a team of middle school students, who incorporated generative AI programs in their robotic teamwork and created a companion robot prototype to address brainhealth issues. The team of middle school students demonstrated that it is possible and important 1) to leverage AI to facilitate learning and wellbeing; 2) to create environments to leverage interests, strengths, team learning and individual learning; and 3) to work together to solve real-life problems with their peers and with AI.
